Am I Crazy?

On September 25th, I completed the Marine Corp's Mud Run here in Columbia.  If you know anything about me, this was a huge accomplishment as I am a very girly girl and can honestly say I have never been this dirty.  The run is a 4.5 mile run with 32 obstacles along the way.  It was awesome!  I really loved it.  I guess after completing this, I began to think that maybe I could complete some runs that I really didn't think I could do before.

Last year I received a flyer in the mail from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) about a program they have called Team Challenge, an endurance training and fundraising program.  Basically, a person raises money for CCFA and they in turn train you to run or walk a half marathon (13.1 miles).  I thought this sounded really cool last year and even mentioned it to one of my sisters and then really never thought about it again until last week.

One day at work last week, I was sitting at my desk eating my lunch and came across a blog about a girl who calls herself Skinny Running Girl or something like that.  Her blog was very interesting and she basically outlines all of her runs which include a ton of half marathons as well as a few marathons.  I immediately remembered the CCFA Team Challenge and started to do a little research.  It turns out that they will begin training in January for a June 11, 2011 half marathon through the DC wine country.  I submitted my name to the Carolinas Chapter of the CCFA and received a call from a very nice girl who answered all of my questions.  I think I am really going to do it!  I love the cause and I think it would be a wonderful goal to look toward.  I don't think I ever want to run a marathon, but who knows, I never thought I would want to do this either!
